COD4 IW Patch COD4

After the discovery of a major game exploit where a player could easily use the inbuilt game cheats such as third person and seeing the enemy on your compass a few weeks ago, Infinity Ward has once again patched Call of Duty 4 to fix this bug.

Although the Call of Duty community fixed the problem rather quickly by updating the pb_cvarlist to kick players who attempted to use the exploit in co-operation with Game-Violations, the permanent fix is another show by Infinity Ward that they are trying to support the game as much as possible. Alongside the game exploit fixes, small fixes have been brought out that fix bugs in overtime Chinatown Sabotage and bomb icons languages.

However, with Call of Duty 4 already on the 1.7 Patch many are questioning Infinity Wards dedication to the game with their obvious reluctance to introduce CoDTV – a tool that could expand competitive Call of Duty to the same level as Counter-Strike as a spectator friendly sport. With CoDTV being the word that all competitive Call of Duty fans want to hear, the patch has not received positive feedback as a result. Rumours are running that Garetjax or the creator of SourceTV are currently working on projects to create CoDTV aiming for a completion date in the summer, however no official statements have been made to back them up.

Unfortunately, as with all of its predecessors the 1.7 Patch is only compatible with Windows servers as the Linux Binaries have not been released as of yet. It is advised to not upgrade your Call of Duty game until the Linux Binaries have been released therefore.
